Man United drop major Cristiano Ronaldo transfer hint as Chelsea’s stance remains consistent

Man United keep hinting on social media that Cristiano Ronaldo will stay put for the remainder of the summer as Chelsea’s transfer stance remains consistent. At the start of the summer, the Portuguese was eager to leave in order to continue his love affair with the Champions League.

However, a lack of options at present has seen the 37-year-old have no other choice but to stay put currently. football.london understands that New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly was keen to make the five- time Ballon d’Or winner the first Hollywood-type signing of his new tenure but Thomas Tuchel put the roadblocks in this plan as he didn’t see Ronaldo fitting his current system and plan.

Instead, alongside new arrival Raheem Sterling who by his own admission has settled in well to life back in London, the German boss is looking to reunite with a player who has only recently left London for affairs abroad .

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has only spent half a season with Barcelona to date but their current financial situation coupled with the star signing of Robert Lewandowski has allowed the Blues to plan their assault on the Blaugrana.

A fee in the region of £17million could be accepted for the Gabon international who despite not actively pushing for the move, will listen to Chelsea’s proposals and make his mind up from there. However, there is no guarantee that the 33-year- old will return to England this summer.

Therefore, new owner Boehly will need to have a contingency plan and that is understood to be re- looking and evaluating once more the situation with United’s number 7. It is understood that Tuchel could do a U-turn on his initial rejection if more suitable options aren’t attainable to get before the September deadline.

With Marcus Rashford being linked to Paris Saint- Germain, an exit for him would inevitably mean that Ronaldo would have to stay put regardless of a late Chelsea approach. Even if someone like Cody Gakpo or Antony were to come in as direct replacements.

Since Ronaldo returned to the fold, United have been consistent in posting social media posts of him training. The type of hint that indicates that he’s still very much part of the plans. This is despite new manager Erik ten Hag’s decision to leave him out of the starting eleven for the Brighton loss. A decision that backfired and that Ralf Rangnick’s successor will put right when the Brentford game comes around this weekend.

Ahead of the contest at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday Night Football, the Glazers have decided it was the right time to drop their new green third kit and Ronaldo’s inclusion in the promotion of it, despite the glum look on his face, could be interpreted as another hint of what’s to come before September 1.
