Borussia Dortmund make huge Youssoufa Moukoko transfer decision as Chelsea eye January deal
Chelsea and Barcelona are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund talent Youssoufa Moukoko. The young German is entering the final six months of his contract and could become a free agent at the end of the season.
Under Graham Potter there have been more minutes for teenagers in the Premier League than under Thomas Tuchel last season – though that isn’t hard considering he didn’t record any. The point is that Potter, who is just three months into the job, has already turned to young talents.
Youssoufa Moukoko may see the opportunity available to him at Stamford Bridge and decide his career will be benefit more from moving away from Dortmund. Todd Boehly has focused on signing talented youngsters since completing a £4.25billion takeover at Chelsea, with the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei and Gabriel Slonina all signing, whilst David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos are close to completing moves to Stamford Bridge ahead of January.
Borussia Dortmund chiefs Hans-Joachim Watzke and Sebastian Kehl have made a final offer to Youssoufa Moukoko’s camp, according to BILD. The German outfit are thought to have offered to triple his salary and earning up to a €6million (£5.2million) salary, but they believe that this offer will not meet Moukoko’s demands with his expectation being at least €7million (£6.1million).
The 18-year-old has scored six goals and provided a further six assists in 22 appearances for Dortmund this season and featured for Germany at the World Cup. The youngster is considered to be one of the most talented strikers in Europe and would fit in with Boehly’s new vision at Chelsea, whilst also providing a quality attacking option given Armando Broja’s injury.
Fofana’s signing may already hint that the Blues are passing up the chance to sign Moukoko in January. The 18-year-old could still end up at Stamford Bridge should he choose to reject Dortmund’s latest contract offer.
