Chelsea given green light to sign Joao Felix after Portugal win as Erling Haaland transfer ‘blocked’

 

Chelsea could be able to secure a long-term transfer next year as Atletico Madrid’s CEO revealed Joao Felix’s position at the club. Felix starred for Portugal in a 6-1 win against Switzerland to reach the World Cup quarter finals, and despite scoring the 23-year-old still impressed with his dazzling dribbles across the pitch.

He has bee looked at by Chelsea previously, most notably in 2020 as Frank Lampard looked to overhaul the Blues attack, but he has always been priced out of leaving since his £120m switch to Spain from Benfica in 2019. Things are different now though and Gil Marin revealed his complex situation.

“João Felix has top level,” he explained. “But because of his relationship with Simeone and game time… we feel that makes sense to consider potential bids to sell him.”

Madrid are also looking at him, but with Haaland a future desire for them, if the Norweigan powerhouse was to move there it could put the spanner in the works of any move for Endrick.

Chelsea fans to watch out for in Portugal vs Switzerland. Not only did Ronaldo find himself dropped from the team in the same week that he reportedly agreed a deal to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, Rafael Leao was also on the bench.

The 23-year-old is a target for the Blues and has been sending hints over a possible move to Stamford Bridge in 2023, which you can read about here .
