Cristiano Ronaldo still prefer Chelsea move even after £432m offer from Al-Nasr

Cristiano Ronaldo is still open to an approach from Chelsea despite his lucrative offer from Al-Nasr, according to reports. Earlier this week, reports in Spain claimed that Ronaldo has reached an initially agreement with the Saudi Arabian club over a deal worth €500 million (£432m).

The 37-year-old, who contract with Manchester United was terminated last month, has been offered a two-and-a-half-year contract worth €200m (£173m) per season. But according to the Sunday Mirror, Ronaldo is yet to make a final decision over his future and would be open to a possible move to Chelsea.

The report claims that Ronaldo is solely focused on Portugal’s World Cup campaign and will not decide his next club until after the tournament. It’s also claimed that Sporting CP, Ronaldo’s boyhood club, are keen to sign him on a free transfer but they are unable to get near Al-Nasr’s offer and already face a fight to be in the Champions League next season. Chelsea, meanwhile, had the opportunity to sign Ronaldo from Manchester United in the summer but a disagreement between Thomas Tuchel and the club’s co-owner, Todd Boehly, meant that the deal did not go ahead.

Tuchel has since been sacked by Chelsea and replaced with Graham Potter, although reports last month claimed he too is ‘unenthused’ by the prospect of bringing Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge. Ronaldo is currently preparing for Portugal’s World Cup last-16 tie against Switzerland on Tuesday evening.

The 37-year-old has scored just once in Qatar but that goal made him the first male player in history to find the net in five different World Cup tournaments.
